Say Say Ol' Playmate

The following little child’s song, is one that my Mother used to sing with me while we did hand rhythm claps.  Although, it has been changed from what may be well known, it is what I know and grew up with.  This is one of the many things we did together while I was growing up, and holds fond memories for me.

Say say ol’ playmate
Come out and play with me
And bring your dollies three
Climb up my apple tree
Slide down my rain barrel
Into my cellar door
And well be jolly friends
Forever more 1 2 3 4

So Sorry playmate
I cannot play with you
My dolly has the flu
Boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo
Can’t climb that rain barrel
Can’t slide the cellar door
But well be jolly friends
Forever more 1 2 3 4

  1. THANKS, My Mother also used to sing this to me and for some reason it popped in my head this morning, but I couldn't recall the words.

  2. You are very welcome. So glad I could help. Yes, I have some very fond memories of this little song. The version that I have posted, is not completely correct, but it is how I learned it.

Thank you for visiting my blog and for posting a comment.

    Many Thanks
